About Shelter Scotland Training

Shelter Scotland is one of the leading providers of training for agencies and individuals working in the housing and homelessness sector. We have provided innovative training solutions since 2001, supporting the professional development of housing staff and acquiring a reputation for having expert knowledge on housing policy and practice.

We are experienced in delivering comprehensive training across a range of topical housing areas and have pioneered a number of key training programmes in the sector. As an accredited SQA centre, we deliver the Professional Development Award in Housing Law Advice and the National Progression award in Tenancy and Citizenship. We have supported a range of organisations to develop their staff, including all 32 Scottish Local Authorities, a number of Housing Associations and Housing Support providers.

Meet the training team

 Jill Walker

Jill is the Learning Manager and has been part of the team since 2005. She is responsible for managing and developing the Learning programme which supports and enhances the knowledge and expertise of those working in the housing sector. She liaises with SQA and Scottish Government to ensure our training developed is at the forefront of professional development and policy. She has designed and developed bespoke training programmes for housing professionals to support their core knowledge and skills attainment and delivered face to face training to develop workplace practices and facilitate collaboration.

Pauline Hay

Pauline is a Learning Officer and has over 20 years’ experience in delivering training. Since joining Shelter in 2006, Pauline has delivered an extensive range of courses to local authorities, housing associations and voluntary organisations to meet their training needs on all aspects of key housing knowledge and practice. Her specialism includes Private Rented Sector, Homelessness and Welfare Reform.

Lucy Dymock

Lucy is the Learning Co-ordinator and provides support for all training activity including administration of our Learner Management System. She leads on learner engagement and support to ensure all learners are assisted through their journey of professional development.
